Not only does the IMsupporting software use standard IP geolocation techniques to locate live chat visitors, Users now have the option to
enable HTML5 geolocation.Differences between standard IP geolocationa nd HTML5 geolocation:
Standard : This method of geolocation relies on a database of locations of ISP's based on IP address. This method is prone to error and cannot
locate users to a street level. User confirmation is not required.
HTML5 : This method uses the end users webbrowser to indentify their location. This is based on wireless signal and other metrics to locate a
visitor right down to the street level even as far as the house number. The user must allow you access to this data.While HTML5 geolocation can be great, It does have drawbacks.
One such drawback is privacy. Because of the level of detail available, The end user must "Allow" access to their location.
This is displayed like the below screenshot.
Once a user clicks "Share" their webbrowser will send IMsupporting their current location. We can then use this to give you a better understanding
of the end users location.Why use HTML5 geolocation on live chat software?
In most cases you wont need the level of detail this method gives you. IMsupporting will use it normal method of geo-location and this will give you
a rough guide to the users location.
However, in some cases you may want the users location in more detail.
For example: Your a Taxi firm using live chat. Your user may want to share their location with you.
This is a great way to show you a users location even when the end user doesnt know where they are.Note:

Note that if you have this method disabled or a user decides not to share their location with you. You will still be able to get a rough location
